The exhibition ‘CNN199: 35 Years of Hip Hop Activism’ looks back on the career of a collective that symbolises hip hop culture.
The exhibition takes a retrospective look at CNN199, a pioneering collective of Brussels graffiti artists, and immerses visitors in the evolution of tagging, from its subversive origins to its recognition in contemporary art.
The exhibition shows a diversity of forms and techniques: monumental frescoes, works on canvas and digital installations. It pays tribute to the raw beginnings of graffiti while highlighting the individual careers of the artists who make up the collective, with original works created especially for the Vanderborght building. Performances, workshops and lectures will also be held.
From Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
